Palatine Thanksgiving

PALATINE THANKSGIVING ENFORCEMENT MOBILIZATION.

Arrests, fines and citations on highways.

The Palatine Police Department conducted seat belt enforcement from November 17-27, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket mobilization. The Palatine Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, Palatine Police issued:

•          93 seat belt citations

•          2 DUI arrests

•          12 speeding citations

•          2 uninsured motorists’ citations

•          71 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations

•          33 other traffic related citations

•          4 suspended/revoked driver’s license arrests

•          8 drug arrests

•          1 reckless driving arrest

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Palatine, but that isn’t an excuse to stop buckling up. Not wearing your seat belt is a primary offense, meaning law enforcement can stop you and issue a citation for that alone.

Palatine Police officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers, front or back, are caught not wearing a seat belt, you will be cited for the violation.

The Click It or Ticket mobilization was made possible with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
